Candle centerpieces

I've already bought square glass vases for our centerpieces but due to my mom's layoff at her florist job, I won't be able to do the flowers I want for my centerpieces within my price range. I'll still be using mainly tulips and irises for the bouquests (in blue/violet/purple), and would like to use some of those colors in my candle center pieces, without using expensive flowers. I've been thinking of using the vases I have, plus some smaller votives, filled with candles and things like glass/sand/feathers (or whatever works!) to incorporate the jewel tones that I had wanted to have throughout the wedding. Any other ideas on how to do this?

Re: Candle centerpieces

  • I love the look of a sumberged tulip with a floating candle.  I've never seen it done w/ an Iris, but it could look very nice too, if done right. Since you already own the glassware and would only need one bllom per table, it could be an affordable way to incorporate your flowers into the centerpieces.

  • I think a submerged single flower per vase is a great idea. They also make these lights that you can place under the vase, or in it, in various colors, so no matter what you put in there, it will glow and look way more detailed and expensive than it was. Here is a great website for inexpensive candles http://www.quickcandles.com/. I bought 144 votives and holders - plenty to put on all the guest tables and more!
