Terrarium Favors

Hey there! I'm doing mini terrariums as favors, but I'm not sure what plants, etc. to put in. Any ideas? I don't want it to be too expensive, as I have a little budget. Thanks! Here are the mini apothecary jars I got for them: http://www.amazon.com/Anchor-Hocking-12-Ounce-Apothecary-Glass/dp/B001D9C1X6/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1250649381&sr=8-3

Re: Terrarium Favors

  • I guess take out the s when you put in the link? Sorry.
  • Honestly as a guest I would not take a mini terrerium. they do not travel well in a car and would probably be banned on planes. So basically I would think that very few of your guests would take these and even fewer would get them home without having to trash or break them. cute but not as favors. And a huge waste of money. that siad hey if it makes you happy and you are ok with having to take back 70% of them then go for it Wow even without plants they are already $4 each that is a ton of money to spend on favors
  • I've got to go with ffmaid.  Mini terrariums sound like a lot of work and $$ for little gain.  I'm afraid you're going to have a ton left over, and then what do you do with them?Or, you'll have people do what I might:  take them because I feel obligated to take them and throw them our when I get home.  Again-do you really want to spend that kind of $$?I think that most guests would prefer that you take the $$ you're going to spend on terrariums, and add something to your bar or cocktail hour appetizers.
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146
  • I see, thanks for telling me. I already have the jars, though. Do you have any other ideas for what to do with them? Something that you would take and not throw away?
  • Can you just return the jars to amazon or wherever you bought them?
  • Fill them with candy?  I don't know how big they are, but fill them with something else edible.....jams, cinnamon/sugar mix, gourmet coffee beans, pretzels, roasted nuts, spiced tea mix, jordan almonds, butter mints.

  • I like the jars and want to use them, so I'm not going to return them. trix1223, thanks for the ideas!
