Cake Topper?

So my fiance & I have been trying to figure out something other then the traditional cake topper of the bride & groom to put on our cake. I've been saying I don't want flowers, nor do we want one of those "T & S" letter's...but I'm unsure of what other ideas there are. We saw some cakes that had nothing at all on top and we were wanting to use our logo and put a G on one of the layers. So maybe if we don't have a cake topper at ALL, we could do our logo on the top layer? I'm going back & forth about doing flowers, I just wanted to get other brides ideas or suggestions. Thanks!

Re: Cake Topper?

  • You don't have to have one, no one will even notice! What about candied fruit slices or chocolate shavings (you know, how you shave it and it kind of comes off in a roll?) You could have your logo printed on wafer paper with food coloring ink and put that on top. Just make sure your cake is close enough to people where they can see the top.
  • We didn't have one (actually, we forgot to buy one) and our cake looked great. They aren't a requirement.
  • I can't find the cake topper for our cake. not a lot of african american or ethic cake toppers out there. I might just go with out it. Does anyone know of wobesite that sells many cake toppers?

  • Check out weddingdesigner.com they have tons of different cake toppers and you can adjust the skin, hair, and eye color on many of the designs.
  • My friend got her cake topper from weddingstar.com. Try there :)
  • I made my own!  I couldn't find what I liked so I bought a wooden K at Hobby Lobby on sale and painted it white, then I covered it in craft glue and put those tiny seed beads on it in our wedding color.  After it dried we glued it to 3 snowflake ornaments kind of overlapping.  My dad put some thick wire on the bottom to stick in the cake (we didn't worry about what kind of wire because our cake is fake, but if your cake is real make sure it's food safe!)  After the wedding my dad is going to attach a spiral of wire to the bottom so FI and I can use it as our tree topper!  I wanted it to look nice but I didn't want to spend lots on something that is going to sit on our cake for a few hours and then go in a box marked "Wedding Stuff"!!!  I used snowflakes because that's our theme, but you could use anything to be a background for your monogram!
