Too many themes?

My fiance and I are getting married may 15 2010...and i have all these ideas that seem great but i feel like it's either too much or it wont be cohesove please help during the ceremony we are having all The Beatles music being played but orchestrated...so to kind of tie into that i wanted my tables to be theme named with The Beatles love songs...and have (small at the bottom) a few lyrics to that song. But during dinner we are having all Billie Holiday songs being played in the back ground...is this too much or great ideas???

Re: Too many themes?

  • What about naming tables after songs from both TB and BH?

  • How about ditching the idea of "themes" and just doing the stuff that you guys want to do? You don't have to have a Beatles theme or a Billie Holiday/jazz theme just to play this music or use them as table names. People aren't to care if you have a theme, or scream and run out of the hall in horror if they're sitting at the "All You Need Is love" table and jazz music is played during dinner. It's just music. You're really overthinking this.

  • I agree with mbc, why not just do what you want and stop trying to fit everything into a neat little "theme" category?
  • You're way overthinking this.  It's background music.  No one's really going to notice. Here's your reality check:  Think about the last 6 weddings you attended.  What was the music playing during dinner?Heck-I couldn't begin to tell you the music that was playing during my own DDs wedding in July.I promise, no one is going to leave your wedding saying "Well that marriage is doomed.  Can you imagine?  Rae played Billie Holliday music but named her tables after Beatles songs?  I give this marriage 6 months tops."And while we're talking:  If you must do the table naming thing, please also put a number on it somewhere, especially if you have over 12 tables.  As a guest, I don't give a flip what table I'm sitting at-I just want to be able to find it.  I don't want to be wandering around wondering if "Can't Buy Me Love" is closer to "Yesterday" or closer to "All you Need is Love".  With a number on it, I can find my table quickly.
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146
  • Not everything about your wedding has to relate to a central theme. You can have any kind of music you want playing in the background, it doesn't have to match the Beatles theme.
