Dressing up a blank wall

We're having our reception in a great loft space with exposed brick, cathedral ceilings and huge windows.  But at the end of the room (which you see when you walk through the room's only entrance) is a completely blank wall.  We're not having a head table, and I'm a little lost about what to do with the space!  Have any ideas? (You can see the pic in my bio.. I think. This is my first post so I may not have done it right!)

Re: Dressing up a blank wall

  • You may want to consider uplighting for that wall.  It can give very dramatic effects for minimal cost.  Check my bio for some ideas.
  • You can do special lighting, plants, artwork, draped material, a decorated arch, decorative folding screens, or a video slideshow playing in the background. But often, those type of things end up being distracting or cheesy, and end up looking cluttered. Not really a good return for your money and effort. But really, once you get a room full of guests, with decorated tables, no one will notice the blank wall. Just keep the focus on the table, with attractive centerpieces and lighting, and it will be fine.
  • I def agree with the PP's. Depending on the look you are going for antique or an unfinished mirror can really help to develop depth to the space. Greenery will also help to warm up a cold white wall.
