Any ideas? TIA

What can I serve at a dessert reception? The reception time is from 8pm until 11pm. There will be alcohol also and it is mostly an adult only reception. The only children are the ones in the wedding party which is 2 children. We are having a dj also and will be cutting the cake and doing the bouquet and garter toss also. Here is what I have so far. Any suggestions would be great! • Google Amy Atlas, she designs the most amazing dessert buffets, her blog has loads of amazing inspiration http://amyatlas.blogspot.com/ Personally I love Choux buns (they can be made in advance and frozen, then filled & topped on the day), I also love mini cheesecakes, mini fruit tarts, in fact I pretty much love anything that counts as a dessert so anything you choose would work!
  • I wouldn't serve alcohol with just desserts because the sugar in the alcohol makes the alcohol enter the blood stream almost instantly, making your guests drunk and sick very quickly. It's because there's nothing else in their stomachs to soak up the alcohol. Many people actually don't like the taste combinations of alcohol and desserts. That said, the sky is the limit as far as dessert options. For example: Pies/cobblers Cakes Chocolate mousse Fruit salads Brownies/cookies/bars Cheesecakes Truffles Action stations (bananas foster, cherries jubilee, crepes, waffles, etc) Ice cream That's just the tip of the iceberg.
  • I think the cake should be enough of a dessert! Or maybe a few other things, but I think you should have little snacks. Like cheese, crackers, ham, breads, things to soak up the alcohol. Dessert and alcohol does not mix! Hopefully your guest eat dinner before they go, but you should still have something without sugar to pick on. GL
  • When you start adding sandwiches, meat trays, and other savory items, it is no longer a dessert reception. The OP wanted to serve just desserts, not have the cake as a dessert for something else. Nothing wrong with that.
  • Your right there isnt anything wrong with it at all. But like you said, alcohol and desserts dont mix to well. I just suggested that a few other items along with the desserts may be helpful if drinks are involved.
