Incorporating Starbucks

My fiance and I met as college students working as baristas at Starbucks. As much as I (we) would love to have this theme brought-in somehow, I'm at a loss for doing it in a creative/classy/fun way.Any ideas?

Re: Incorporating Starbucks

  • Offer people to-go cups of Starbucks at the end of the night.

  • Our friends had their first date at a coffee house, so they had coffee beans in their centerpieces.  I don't remember exactly what they looked like, but it was cute.

  • You could incorporate the starbucks logo into your monogram. You could also give out some sort of Starbucks product as your favor.
  • my BFF and her DH had their first date at a Starbucks. She decided to have little bags of coffee beans on the tables for people to take.  She went into the Starbucks asking for stickers, cards or something and she explained what she needed them for.  They ended up giving her 120 little coffee bean gift bags to be used a favors for free.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • I like the coffee bean centerpieces.  You could also use that distinctive Starbucks shade of green in your color scheme, or maybe have a groom's cake in the shape of a Starbucks drink.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • Eeeek--so many GREAT ideas! Thank you:0)
  • Coffee bean favors sound so cute! Also, you could to a Starbucks groom's cake.

  • How about a Starbucks coffee/espresso bar?
  • I know a couple who loved Tim Hortons coffee...so they gave mini bags of tim hortons coffee (they bought in bulk off their website) for their favors...you could always do something like that!
  • What about sample-sized Starbucks cups filled with chocolate covered espresso beans?  You could wrap them in tulle or cello wrap or something and tie it with a Starbuck's green colored ribbon.  I think they would be cute!  I think a Starbuck's coffee bar would be cool too.  You could offer Starbuck's coffee and different syrups, chocolate shavings, cinnamon, whipped cream, etc.

  • Whatever you do, go easy on the Starbucks... I'd just offer a latte to go in a Starbucks cup at the end of the night, etc. Or some other Starbucks-related treat. Perhaps attach a note that tells your guests that's how you met. Make it a sidenote, not the focus. Otherwise it could look like corporate sponsorship of your wedding. I think you'd really regret using the logo in your monogram later, for example. It's your wedding, not an advertisement for Starbucks. Also, many people consider Starbucks to be overly commercialized/mass-marketed and think that Starbucks is to coffee what McDonald's is to hamburgers, so you may want to keep that in mind before making it your wedding theme.
  • FI and I met at Dunkin Donuts. We're having Box o' Hot Chocolate and H2O's outside in the church parking lot when you exit the church for the ride to the reception. It's also doubling as a way to get everyone outside quickly so there's no lollygagging around the recieving line.
  • How about at the end of the reception you have a table set up with cups and those new "Via" packages with some water, creamer, and sugar (and flavoring for those of us who can not stand to drink the stuff straight but love the smell) with a little tag explaining how you met so people could have a little "pick me up" before they have to drive.
  • name each table after a Starbucks coffee?Have a brown & cream (coffee) in your colour scheme? (not overtly starbucks but would work subtly as an underlying theme). You could go a little bit more creative on your STDs and invites, but I would tone it down on the day, I like pps suggestions for coffee bar & take home gifts.
  • A coffee bar with various flavored coffees, maybe served in Starbucks cups. Starbucks coffee mugs as favors, filled with small bags of coffee or coffee beans, or edible treats. Have a cocktail and hors d'oeuvres style reception with smaller bistro type tables for a "coffee shop" or "sidewalk cafe" feel. Coffee flavor/themed treats, like the cake, pastries, candy, etc...
  • Just be aware there may be quite a few guests that don't like coffee (just the smell makes me sick) so be sure to have an alternative on offer if you go with coffee drinks
  • Could you have an espresso bar and hire a barista - potentially a co-worker to make special drinks after the dinner hour?Plain coffee is good... but a choice of lattes/mochas/etc would be a fun nod to your past! and delicious!!
  • Hey, Expat had an idea... you COULD write the company and ask for sponsorship of your wedding!Seriously, though, that's cute. I used to be a barista as well.

  • again, so many fabulous ideas---thanks, ladies:0)!!i definitely will write the company--that's a really good thought; i'm hoping they'll be generous enough to do it! and the ideas of giving packets of coffee beans for favors is also really fun and creative!we certainly will take our pics. in front of 'our' starbucks--i don't know why it didn't occur to us to do this already..thanks for the idea!i appreciate everyone's thoughts.
  • This is more understated, but what about just offering starbucks coffee along with your cake?  I know a lot of people enjoy having a cup of coffee or espresso with their desserts and having that as an option with your favorite starbucks blends could be appreciated!
