Super lame?

FI and I love to play Scrabble (yeah, we're cool). I thought it might be cute to have a few Scrabble boards on high-top tables during the cocktail hour and spell out cute wedding words (bride, groom, love, etc.) He thinks I'm cheesy. Opinions? I'm not tied to the idea, just throwing around fun ways to make our wedding realy feel like 'ours'. Would you think it was fun, or just lame?

I think it's really cute. Weddings are about displaying your personality as a couple without shoving it down people's throats. A centerpiece is a cute way to incorporate something cool about you. Alternatively, I would use scrabble letters to spell out the titles on programs or menu cards.

Make sure you take pics of the boards after the reception.  Chances are you will have some funny things your guests may have decided to spell out for you.

Not lame at all.  I think they'd make great centerpieces, and I think your guests might have fun spelling out new things.  I know if I went to a wedding that had something like that sitting around, I'd go to town.

Wow, thanks for all the other fun ideas! I didn't even think of using the tiles for other things but love the escort card idea. I was kind of hoping people might rearrange the letters and have fun with them so I'm glad to hear that you guys would! I'm sure there will be some funny/mildly inappropriate things at the end of the night so pictures are a must. Thanks!!

I know it's turned out to be more of a theme than you probably wanted, but check out offbeatbride.com Today they had a post about recycled scrabble tiles as necklaces and gifts for the WP.  It sounds great!  Can't wait to see the pics....would love to follow your DIY stuff with it....

You would prob need to hot glue the tiles down for the escort cards but i def love the idea! I kinda think it would be cute to have a couple working scrabble boards around. I can just see the grandfathers sitting down and chattin over a game of scrabbles! That'd be such a priceless picture!

As you can see from my siggy, we are into scrabble as well.  My gift to my H pre-wedding was a hankie that said 'July Twenty-Fifth' in tiles, pics in bio.  So...clearly I think it's a great idea!  I particularly like the scrabble groom's cake idea!
