first dance

Hey ladies, I see that busting a move for the first dance is the new trend but is it played out already? Any suggestions?

Re: first dance

  • Kind of played out, to be honest.  Also, I find it a bit awkward when the couple doesn't actually know how to dance.  If you're professional dancers, than I'm sure it would be awesome, but otherwise it ends up like one of the more embarrassing So You Think You Can Dance auditions.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • It's not original anymore ... the first couple of people to do it were thinking it up on their own, but now it seems like everyone sees something funny on YouTube and wants to copy it. If you want to do it, of course that's your call. But IMO it's way too trendy for most people to think it's new and clever (and I think that the people who've honestly never heard of wacky first dances would just be confused).

  • I agree with everything said above. I love dancing and routines but not in expensive tuxes and wedding dresses. Played out
  • We are planning on doing a fast dance mix, we just think it'll be fun and that's what we want at our reception. I know a lot of people are doing it now but that doesn't mean you can't do it. Talk to your FI and decide together what you want to do. Good Luck!
  • I think if it fits you as a couple go for it. Generally though just go with a reg first dance.
  • I think it is played out. DH wanted to do this and we are the type of couple that could have pulled it off hilariously. People even remarked later they would not have been surprised if we had done it. However, I would not have traded our first dance to 'our song' for all the attention whoree moments in the world.
