Reception help

I have noticed some people have posted this question a lot so in a way I am sorry I am posting it again. I am having a pretty small ceremony and reception (100- 150 guest) They are at the same place, different rooms but same location and the photography is being done before. We are starting the ceremony at 3 and have the place until 6 but are only doing cake and punch with a little dancing. We are having a friend do the DJ and MCing but he hasn't done a wedding before (we are on a tight budget and are giving him the exact songs we want) so I was wondering if someone could help out with an idea or two on what a good timeline would be for the reception. We want to have our dance, mother-son dance, father-daugter dance, some more dancing for everyone to enjoy, cake cutting, bouquet and garder toss, and thats about it.Thanks!

Re: Reception help

  • 3:00 - Ceremony 3:30 or as soon as ceremony's over - First dance 3:45 - Family dances (you could do father/daughter and mother/son at the same time) 4:15 - Cake cutting I would have beverages and finger foods available immediately after the ceremony and throughout the entire reception. Serve cake as soon as it's cut. Good luck!
  • I like the idea of doing cake early, we have talked about having nuts to munch on for the guests. We are doing pictures before the ceremony so guests wont be doing a lot of waiting around on us to enter the receptioin. And yes to PP, we are doing some kind of leaving thing (it will probably be simple like bubbles). Thanks for the suggestions!
