Cupcakes :)

So we're going to do cupcakes with a small cutting cake.  Problem being that we're gonna have around 150 guests.  Any suggestions on how to display all the tasty cupcakes? And suggestions on how to make simple cupcakes cute for cheap??Sarah

  • http://www.countryliving.com/cooking/recipes/cupcake-decorating-ideas-0309I really like that article! We're thinking about doing cupcakes as well. Display options I've looked into include boxing each one individually in Wilton cupcake boxes (approx. $1 per box, which gets expensive), renting cupcake stands from a local cake shop, and putting them on small plates surrounding the centerpiece on each table...Now I'm considering the cake balls from bakerella though.. decisions, decisions...

  • You can buy or make cupcake stands or cupcake trees for pretty cheap.  If you poke around Bakerella.com, you'll see some INSANELY adorable cupcake decoration ideas.  The woman does everything, and all of her stuff is super easy.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • We are having cupcakes too, and we are going to do kind of a wedding cake shape...you know, different levels, with a few rows each. I think we are going to use some boxes and wrap them with an appropriate color paper and just attach them together! (like you, I have 150+ guests and I'd need a forrest of cupcake stands to make that work!)
  • We made our cupcake stand.  It was super easy and then we were able to decorate with our colors and theme (wildflowers).  If you google it, there are really easy directions and if you google image search, you can get some great ideas. We also had three flavors, which I highly recommend and to make them cuter we had our local supermarket decorate about 1/3 of them with wild flowers (the rest were just white icing).
  • i remember this from my childhood.... Martha Steward had a buffet table idea where she had stacked differnt boxes on the table then covered it with a big table cloth then put the food on the differnt layers. It looked really neat. maybe you could do something like that and just make decorative wrappers for your cup cakes to sit in and just set them on the differnt layers
  • http://www.cupcaketree.com/Holds up to 300 cupcakes. Cheap, sturdy, and you can easily decorate it to match your theme. The website has tons of great photos for inspiration.
  • Our baker is providing the cupcake stands -- if you're using a baker you might not have to worry about this.
