Have a question

Should I have a DJ? Well were only planning on having about 65-80 guest at our wedding. Its mostly our family and a few friends. Both of our family guest are older(mom, dad, aunt, uncle, gpa, gma etc) . We are also having a dry wedding. Im just worrid if we get one and no one dances then its a waste of money. I would like to know if anyone could please help me.

Re: Have a question

  • I don't think you need a DJ especially if you don't expect people to dance. But, I would still have some kind of music playing. Ipod, string trio, something.
  • We're having alcohol at our wedding, but it's in a small venue with no dance floor, so we don't expect dancing.  My BIL was going to DJ for us (he does it professionally), but we've decided we're just going to put together a playlist and run it off my laptop.Of course, the DJ also usually serves as the MC, announcing your entrance and other important moments.  If you decide to just have background music, you may still want to ask someone to serve as your MC.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • I don't think you need a DJ for the type of reception you described.  You would be fine to just have some background music through an Ipod or laptop.

  • I would hire musicians over a DJ if it's mostly an older crowd. You still need some type of music.

  • Do you want dancing? Are any of your guests dancers? If no to either of those, then skip the dj. The size of the guest list is irrelevant.
  • No, you don't need a DJ for a small wedding, especially if you aren't sure anyone will want to dance. Recorded music will be fine. If possible, I would have someone in charge of the music, so you don't have to worry about it. Preferably someone not in the wedding party, because you will want to start the music right away, and if the person in charge of music is busy taking pictures, or making speeches, they can't be two places at once. And if you want a first dance, you can still do that, whether anyone else dances or not. You might just set aside a small area for a dance floor just in case. Who knows, the old geezers might surprise you and dance the night away, lol!
  • By the way, I have to mention how much you look like my neice. Except she is blond, you two could pass for sisters, maybe even twins.
