Centerpieces - Help Needed

Hi All!I'm new to this board but figured this would be a good place to ask this.  My FI wants to use centerpieces that are 10 1/2 inches in diameter which would cause the flowers to be outrageous!  The tables are all white so I'd like some color on the table.  Does anyone have any ideas how we could incorporate the large centerpieces but still add color to the tables?  I was thinking maybe put a candle in the middle to take up some room and then flowers around.  Would that look stupid?  Any other ideas / suggestions would be greatly appreciated. TIA!

• See lindsay's post just above yours with the flowers inside the cylinder vases, those are really pretty and a good way to use that type of wide vase.

• Thanks!  They are 7 1/2 inches tall.  I have a pick I can post but I'm not sure how to do...
• Oh yeah, I was thinking tall not wide.  That's a really wide vase!  I would really look into using rocks or glass marbles and maybe various diameter candles inside the vase.  You don't have to do flowers at all if it's too much.Instructions here on how to post a pic:KnotCodes

• Ok this is easier for me...here's a link to them: http://www.blenkoglass.com/2006catalog2/figurals.htmIt's the glass top hat but in clear glass not green.
• Wow $142 each just for the glass vase !!! Expensive You could use filler props that fit the top hat thing like a silk scarf and a magic want and a single rose spilling out of them. The inner section is smaller and flowers will be much much cheaper then your vases anyway
• Holy crap, those are expensive!

• Yes we're not paying anywhere near full price for them.  Otherwise we wouldn't be using them.  :)
• Well I would do some practice runs with colored glass marbles and various candles and/or silk flowers (just to practice with) to come up with something you like.I found these online, but it might cost a lot to do these with the flowers:The less expensive option I think would be various candles inside the glass vase, held in with colored glass marbles.  Like this:http://tinyurl.com/ykwjk88and/or this:

• Instead of water and floating candles, you could use green moss as the base with tea candles and flowers on top for a more organic feel.
• Personally if you're using the usual 60" round tables, I would reconsider using a big centerpiece. My friend did that at the last wedding I went to and the centerpiece didn't leave room for anything else while we were eating. There were small favour boxes on the table as well and trying to cram one of those, a glass of water, and a glass of wine beside my plate was challenging and irritating.. I also hate putting my handbag on the floor so I had it in my lap the whole night, which is uncomfortable..So I would only use those if your tables are quite large...That said, I love river rocks and glass gravel for looking gorgeous and taking up room..

So I have a similar centerpiece vase and will be filling them withclear gel beads and lighting them with waterproof led lights at the bottom of the vase. Similar to these beads and if you scroll down the lights that are being sold are the same type I have http://www.batteryoperatedcandles.net/10100-03-clear-p-all-products.html
I will also be putting some floating candles on top of this. I was thinking about putting a small flower floating on top in the middle of the candles but will have to play with my options to see if it fits.
It looks awesome. It was great, I set it up for my fiance and his groomsmen ended up coming over that night and thought it looked amazing. Its always good when it strikes their attention!
Of course this works will for a night wedding, if it will be well lit the lighting inside the vase will not have any effect.

• Thanks everyone for your help!  You've given me some great ideas to work with! :)
• I am using a hurrican shape glass with a candle in it and that is set in the center with a small wreath around it, laid flat on the table. There is ivy on the brown vine wreath but you could do flowers for more color. You might consider using a colored glass vase in the middle with a candle to cast a nice color on the white table.
Good luck!
• i have for my engagement party two sizes of burgundy hurricane shaped vases with candles in them then i have fall colored mums scattered between the two vases (placed within a few inches of each other).  Then, since I am very symmetrical, I have a tan candle plate on either side of each hurr. vase with a smaller burnt orange candle and to the left of that a small chocolate brown candle plate that holds a vanilla colored votive. a few additional things to add to the fall theme. if you are interested in it, let me knwo i will post pics after i use it this weekend and if you're local and want them, thats fine as well. either way, good luck!
