Driving after wedding reception

How far is too far to ask guests to drive back to their hotels after a wedding reception where alcohol will be served?  We are looking at a reception site near our ceremony site but the nearest hotels are about 15 miles away.  Is that too far?

Agree with Stage, doesn't matter how far or close it is with respect to alcohol. 

That said, I prefer hotels within 5-10 min of the venue.  Solely because it's probably been a long day and I'm tired.

I would say no more than about a 25-30 minute drive. 

Realize that not everyone will stay at the one hotel, and a lot of people will make their own arrangments (at a hotel where they get points or whatever), so there's only so much you can do.   But yeah, 30 minutes from "civilization" is probalby about the furthest I would go.
