I am planning on doing chair sashes/bows instead of full chair covers at the reception, like in the picture below. This may be a silly question, but how do you keep the sashes from sliding down??
Good tape would be my suggestion...if the ribbon's wide enough to hide it, it shouldn't be a problem...something like duct tape would be sufficient i should think...
Try to tie them around the chair in a creative way. Wrap them around the arms or twist them a certain way so thier tight to the chair. Call Gala Linen if you need some more tips or even need to rent your sashes, we have all different colors and fabrics and i can even install them for you. 248-566-0114 ask for heather
How do you keep the chair ties from sliding down? Tie them as tightly as possible and pray. And then halfway through the evening when you notice the vast majority of the ties are puddled around the seats (and you will be the ONLY one who notices), you have another glass of champagne, give the love of your life a great big kiss, and revel in the fact that you're FREAKING MARRIED! Our venue wouldn't let us use any adhesive on the chairs (really old wood or something), so it was pretty when the guests arrived, but all those ties gradually slid right down the chair backs. By that point, people were well-fed and drunk, so the chair ties didn't seem all that important anymore

Re: Chair Sashes
Ask your venue, they would know the answer to that. I have no clue. :P
The chairs are pretty similar to the ones in the picture- a panel going across the top with a gap between that and the bottom.
