Center Pieces... HELP?!?!

I have hit a dead end in ideas for center pieces for our wedding reception.  We have 40 tables to start so minimal expense is desired.  I'd like to try to stay away from using flowers just because I'm already having so much trouble finding flowers for the Ceremony as it is!  I don't mind something simple or DIY whatever I just need ideas.  One Idea I have is to do 1 childhood picture of each of us on each table but that doesn't seem to be enough and people I have mentioned it to don't seem to like the idea.  I need help any suggestions would be greatly  appreciated!!!  Oh and if it helps for you to know the wedding is August 28, in Wyoming so pretty warm it will be indoors but it's a huge building and if I remember right the air-conditioning doesn't work really well , and also our colors are sage green and chocolate brown.

i would stick with the picture idea but instead of using frames i would use vases. I would use a vase like this

 and print my photos in sepia tone (to keep with your color brown--usually i suggest black and white) on vellum or transparency paper (vellum will be more 'frosty' and transparency will be 'crisp'). Glue Each picutre with mod podge on the vase (when your done the glue should come off with soap and water and you can sell them) and put candles on the inside. Depending on what candles you use you could get fish tank rocks in brown --or find a sage green colored filler in the bottom of the vase. You could also skip the filler and glue a band of sage green ribbon on the bottom. Good luck!

I'm going to do a bowl with floating candles and then some pretty little candles (votives) around that (like 5 or 6).  I think I might also scatter some rose petals.

If you plan to do something with vases I would really check out dollartree.com. They have several different vase options and they can be rather cheap! They also have some wedding decorations and floral options . . if you are planning to use them for fillers I think they would work wonderful.
