flower pricing?

I just met with a florist that I loved yesterday, and am wondering about pricing. I got the proposal today and it is about $2,800. For 7 bridesmaids, 9 groomsmen, MOB, MOG, FOB, FOG, 1 grandmother, 2 ceremony centerpieces, reception centerpieces, cocktail table centerpieces...I think thats it. Does that sound reasonable? The number seems high to me, but I know I have a lot of people/areas that need flowers.

it really depends on the flowers you chose and if they are in season.

We're going with mostly white and blue hydrangeas, and they are in season. Does that seem too high now to you? Has anyone negotiated with a florist? My FIL's are paying for the flowers, and I don't want them to think I'm asking too much even though my MIL came with me to the florist and said she would be happy going with them. The thing is, she never stated any sort of price range. I know they paid for their other son's flowers for his wedding, and I think it was slightly less, so its not like she is expecting them to be a completely different price point.

I think that considering ALL centerpieces & reception arrangements are included, that's not too bad.

Seems very reasonable to me.  What kind of flowers are you using?

No, it doesnt really. Seems reasonable. Your sig is HUGE.

Sorry about that, I tried to make a signature with tinypic.com and that is what I got, changing it now. Ice- the person before you said it seemed reasonable, and then you said "no it doesn't" followed by "it seems reasonable"- I'm confused! Do you think the price for Hydrangeas in season is or is not reasonable?

My first quote that I got for flowers was $4700.  I almost passed out! My second quote was $2900, a lot more reasonable, and I have 7 bridesmaids, 2 juniors, 4 flower girls, all the guys, ceremony centerpieces, reception centerpieces, etc...so probably about the same as you... to sum up, I think its very reasonable!

Sorry, I was answring your question to me from your 2nd post. TK needs the quote feature from TN. But yes, your pricing seems reasonable.

Thanks everyone! I just wanted to hear a few opinions before I showed my MIL the proposal. All of the florist's work really is gorgeous, so I would be thrilled to go with her.

I think the price seems reasonable, but how many centerpeices and cocktail peices are you having?  There could be a differece between 10 tables and 20 tables of $500 - $1000.

Doesn't sound too bad to me.  I'm hoping to come in under $3k.  How many guests are you having?

I am also using mostly white hydrangeas. I have 12 bm, 12 gm, 1 fg, fathers, mothers and grandmothers, ceremony flowers and centerpieces and I was quoted $1600.

I think it depends on how many reception centerpieces you are having (10 vs. 20) I had a florist who was smoking something:4 BM, 4 GM, bride, groom, 10 centerpieces and i got quotes 4K, with half of the centerpieces being candles. That woman is on cheap drug... but that's another post.

For all that is included I think it seems pretty reasonable.  Especially depending on what type of flowers your using like a PP said.  I actually got quoted by one florist for 6 grand.  Um.. yeah... I pretended like I didn't know her after that.

It also sounds reasonable to me. I went to one the other day and the woman was pricing things as we went and she gave us a quote of $5500. I looked at her like she was insane. I'm still waiting on a quote from one other florist so I'm hoping they are a little more in line.

Thanks for all the responses! I also have had the experience of a vendor completely shocking me with an outrageous price. But I guess if they state a certain price, someone is willing to pay!

I think that sounds fair.. mines a little more but thats cause I paid for some lighting upgrades and cocktail area flowers, so if I took those out, I'd be in the same ballpark as you and I am also doing hydrangeas.

Oodsie- forgot to mention, but I am getting cocktail hour table centerpieces (although small). Let me know if you want to know the name of the florist that quoted me with that price.

Sounds reasonable to me. I met with two florists in that price range. I just met with one who told me it was $1000 to just hold the date, can't wait to see that quote....
