lunch reception alcohol question

hi ladies, need some input.

we're having a brunch/lunch reception at 12 noon. the food will be more brunch than lunch, and we're debating what to do about alcohol. we're having a very "budget-chic" wedding, but don't want to come off as 'cheap'. my idea is to have mimosas circulating, and limit the alcohol to that, based on the time of the reception, and the menu. we're not having dancing, just brunch. his parents say this is totally reasonable, my dad (who isn't paying a cent towards our day) says its cheap and we should have at least beer and wine. who drinks beer with an omlette? that being said, don't want to somehow offend anybody by not having extensive alcohol available.

would limiting it to circulating cocktails be okay ?
