Reception help

We bought lots of glass champagne glasses to decorate the tables and to use to clink for the bride and groom to kiss (since we're using plastic silverware, there's nothing to clink the glass flutes we purchased). Now I need something for the guests to use to tap on the glasses so that the bride and groom will hear it and have to kiss.  Any good ideas out there that I can make or purchase?  Thanks.

Re: Reception help

  • Most people just buy bells, but silverware would work. You could buy some inexpensive sets at Walmart or the Christmas Tree Shops. Another thing you could do is have people make a short toast if they want you to kiss, however this may get a little off the handle if one of your guests gets drunk or says something bad. What do you mean by non-glasses tableware?
  • You could get glass drink stirrers.  I don't know what your budget is or how many people you have but I searched online and found:

They were 8 for $7.50 making them less then $1 a piece.  The company is called "swizzle stick store" And they have tons of designs to match any theme you have.
You could even tie a little note on it that reads:
"Want the Bride and Groom to kiss, just tap this!"
This way they will know what to do with it.
  • People did this once at our reception. We didn't provide them with anything though. They just did it on their own and used their silverware.
  • You might try pennies, would be fun, add some color to the tables, cheap, and considered by many to be good luck.
  • I've never heard of a couple providing anything for people to tap the glasses with.  The guests just use their silverware.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • I think Target or even party stores sell plastic stirrers like the glass ones mentioned above.  That might be a little less expensive.

Or... if you're having a problem with finding just the right tool to use and you still have receipts for the glassware, maybe you could return them and get bells instead.  I've been to numerous weddings and bells are often used too.  Its a cute noise and can be used as a favor too.

    Hope I helped!
