Groom is a Metal Head! Music choices??

My groom is a true metal head and I am a country/indie girl.  So when it comes to the music we are in a bit of a pickle when it comes to finding a compromise.

He is metal along the lines of Pantera, Mudvayne, Slipknot, Mushroom Head, Tool.  I want to play a few songs for him too without scaring the hell out of his super Christian parents and other family members.  So far all I have is Walk by Pantera.

Does anyone else have any other choices that wont be too scary/crazy?

  • When it comes to reception music, what matters most is what your GUESTS like, not what you like. I doubt your grandmother wants to listen to Pantera. Go with classic wedding standards, and maybe throw in one or two songs that fit your taste that won't offend your guests.

  • I agree with pp.  Also, Tool has a lot of instrumentals and can be on the chill side.  I'm not sure of song titles, but I'm sure you can find something of theirs for background music.
  • Do a search for acoustic versions of the songs he loves. I've heard some great acoustic versions of Pantera songs, as they are one of my favorite bands of all time. Best of luck, and congrats.
    Praying for a miracle!
  • I'd be very careful with what you play. I am a metalhead, more along the lines of Whitechapel/Gojira/Lamb of God type metal, and I won't be having any of "my" music playing throughout the night. It would alienate pretty much every single one of my guests. However, for our entrance song, my FI and I compromised on Metallica's Seek and Destroy. The bridal party and parent entrance songs are the "normal let's get this party started" style. Sucks a bit cause I would LOVE to enjoy the music playing but in terms of dancing and just making sure everyone and not just me is happy, I had to listen to reason and say no.
  • My groom is a metal head as well (Pantera, Metallica, Down, etc.), and I'm more of a folk/indie person. We both agreed that if we played the music we like, no one would have fun and dance and we're going toward a more traditional approach. With that being said, we've come up with a few compromises for each of our own tastes. For him, we're playing some good 80's metal songs that most people know and could dance do. See if he might be interested in something like that!
