seating chart question

Ok, so I realize it's too early to be working on a seating chart (invites haven't even gone out yet) for the reception, but we have a pretty good idea of who is coming/not coming to the wedding, so I started playing around with combinations.

We have a few kids coming to the wedding who will be just about a year old at the time. Am I assuming right that they get their own seat at the reception? Should I ask our venue if they have high chairs available? No idea on this one. TIA!

Re: seating chart question

  • Yes they get their own seat.  You can ask about high chairs, which I think will be nice for the parents.  You can't expect the parents to have the kid on their lap all night long OR have the kid on the ground.

All the couples we're inviting who have young children have already told us the kids are staying home cause this will be a night out for them.

  • I'm in the same boat, and I was going to ask my venue if they have high chairs. Otherwise, can the kid get a chair and the parent can have either a booster seat or car seat on the chair?   (maybe too young for a booster chair)

A lot of parents have those baby seats that actually attach to the table.  Those are really convenient, but I'm not sure I would trust the table to be sturdy....

Those are some ideas, but maybe some of the Mom's on the board could give some feedback, because I am definitely not an expert...

I wouldn't want the couple to have to have the baby on there lap the entire time, if it could be avoided.
  • I think you should ask the venue if they have high chairs or booster seats but like janeneo said that depending on the child's age maybe the parent would prefer to have a seat on which to place the car seat thingy.  So maybe you can ask the couples what they will prefer if they RSVP with jr. The carseat would be indespensible to them for the baby to fall asleep in and I don't think they would want to put the car seat on the floor.
