No Kitchen :/

So, my venue is a loft that has never been used as a venue before, we will be the first wedding to take place in there, BUT...it has no kitchen. The wedding will be taking place at 8pm, so we thought we could serve dessert instead of a meal. DOes anyone have any ideas they'd llike to share on desserts that don't require set up in a kitchen? We were thinking a candy bar, but I'd like to have more. Thanks in advance!!

  • You could go to Sams' or Costco and get trays of cookies, brownies, cupcakes, etc. Maybe some premade fruit bowls as well. GL

I would check with caterers anyway and try to do some appetizers at least.  There are catering companies who have trucks with their own kitchen equipment.  A friend of mine who got married at a B&B used one of these and she had hot fresh food for all of her guests.

If you want to do dessert only, I'd use a bakery to supply everything.

  • I'd probably stick with food that doesn't have to be refrigerated and avoid anything like cheesecake or mousse unless the caterers have refrigeration units in their trucks, which they may. I would probably try to hire a portable espresso cart service too if the caterers don't have coffee service available. That would be a nice touch to a dessert party wedding.
  • I think if you are good about keeping everything on ice with the desserts, you should be fine.  Even dry ice if you can.

  • Ditto goodluckbear, most caterers have their own equipment and don't need a kitchen at the venue.  I work at a reception venue and out caterers have all of their own equipment to create meals even.
