Maybe an aunt or other female guest would do it for you?   I don't like the idea of putting guests to work at weddings, but an aunt or friend of your mother's might be more than happy (and even feel honored) to do this for you.

  • It could be anyone you want, however be sure to let your baker know a “non-caterer” is going to be cutting the cake.

Cake slices are different for wedding cakes than for other types of cakes.  If you have someone who isn’t familiar with how caterers typically cut cake slices, you might not have enough.  Perhaps your baker could show you how its done?

  • Our venue did ours.  But at my first wedding which was more DIY, I asked some of my aunts to help.  I got them corsages as well so that they would designated as helping with the wedding.

i've cut what seems to be like a million cakes working at a reception site, and my 2 suggestions are, #1 if you re going to use a knife make sure you have a pitcher of hot water to dunk the knife in after every few cuts, its makes it cut so much nicer and neater. #2 use dental floss! it makes such  a nice sharp clean cut in the cake and looks so much more preesentable.

I have no idea where your reception is but chances are they will be a banquet server or banquet captain around who will be happ to help, and has lots of expereince!!
