Color and theme help!

We want to do a red and white wedding. However, since the groom and his groomsmen are wearing black tuxes (with red vests/ties), does that mean we should incorporate accents of black?

Also, I don't want to do a typical love theme. We need something a little more original, but I'm at a loss.

Any help is appreciated.

  • You can use any accent colors you choose. Additionally, as long as you avoid numerous heart motifs, etc., up you shouldn't have trouble staying away from a stereotypical theme. Any color combination can look classy and elegant if done correctly. There's a lovely inspiration board here: http://www.triedandtrueweddings.com/2009/03/red-and-white-inspiration-board.html. You can also find many more red and white wedding inspiration boards on Google Images.

I dont think you would have to incorporate black.  Many people have black tuxes without using black in the decor.  It just goes best with red and white.

I think you could do a ton of themes with those colors that arent the "love" theme.  It all depends on your details.  Just go with your personality or things you love :)  My gf had a very elegant red and white demask theme with red roses and white lilies with demask runners and crystals.  It was very beautiful.

If you give more ideas on things you and your honey are into maybe that would help creating theme ideas for you.  Is there anything you are certain you want to incorporate into your wedding?  Or even flowers you want to use?  Causal or formal, garden, country-rustic, runway, modern, whimical, vintage? the posibilities are endless :)
  • You don't have to if you don't want to, unless you do black ribbon around the bouquet? As far as the centerpieces, you can do whatever you like, as far as candles, flowers, votives, ect...
    Its your day, enjoy!!!
