Lollipop Escort Cards

I've been tossing this idea around for the last month and I think it might work. I think its goes with our whimsical spring wedding theme as well as our foodie personalities. The escort table would be set with multiple planters and flower pots and in them would stand flower shaped sugar lollipops. Attached to the lollipop's stick or "stem" would be tied a green paper leaf. On the leaf would be the person's name and the table at which they are seated. I figured I could stand the lollipops up using foam and then cover it with green jelly beans or candy hearts to simulate grass.

I'm having trouble finding the right lollipops for this so my FI suggested that we could do spiral lollipops in pinks and greens (our wedding colors) instead of flowers. I figure I can even color code the leaves or lollipop color to indicate meal choice.

What do you all think? Is it a crazy and/or stupid idea?

Re: Lollipop Escort Cards

  • i think its cute, and could/would double as favors.

our colors were pink and green as well :)

  • I was hoping it could double as a favor but my FI thought it might seem cheap to just give a lollipop. My FI and I have gone back and forth on this one. He thinks we should do a favor of some sort as well. LIke a pilsner glass or coaster. I'm not sure. At least he seems to like the lollipop idea. We tossed around the idea of chocolate lollipops in our colors but we were afraid they could melt in the warm weather.

a favor doesnt have to be expensive.

a pilsner or a coaster? so people can have 1, (or maybe 2 if they are a couple) with your name and date on it? most people here on TK will tell you thats not a good idea.

I just had a yard sale that included all the random glassware from assorted weddings that I have attended in the past.    I also have the joy of picking broken glass out of the suitcase when I got home from assorted weddings.  I love that my friends got married but do not need an odd glass or set of coasters telling me that they got married.
  • I love this idea!

  • Look at oriental trading for this. There are different color lollipops that you can order and they are really cheap.

I was going to buy them(they come personalized too) and put tags on the for the escort cards.

  • Sounds like you guys think that the lollipops would be sufficient for a favor. I'm glad to hear that! I appreciate the suggestions on where to find the lollipops. I'm trying a couple out from different venors on etsy.com but if they don't work out I'll try your suggestion. I have to say, trying out all these lollipops is hard work :P

Have any of you seen 1-2 inch deep display trays that could act as flower beds for the lollipops? I'm not very handy with woodwork but I'm starting to think I'm going to have to build them myself. It doesn't have to be wood, it can be any material but i'd liek to avoid the aluminum bins you serve food in. I'm worried that a bunch of flower pots will look too cluttered.
