Re: thanks.

  • If you do black tie, I think your guests would enjoy the live band rather than a photobooth.

A photobooth at a black tie event is weird to me.  But its your thing, so if you want one, then do it.

  • No, it's not weird at all.  Black tie doesn't mean stuffy and photo booths are fun!  I've only heard ppl say good things about them (minus pp).  You can find one that is Hollywood glamour or formal....there are tons to choose from!  You could also do an open air photo booth and make it red carpet style.

We are doing a vintage photo booth for our formal wedding at a historic mansion.  I can't wait!!  :)

  • Our wedding wasn't black tie, but it was formal, and we had a photobooth and our guests loved it.  If you are worried about how it will look in the room, maybe you can put it in the hallway or a side room.  But I think they are fine in any venue because I think they are really fun.

  • Hey- If it makes we feel better we are also having a black tie wedding AND the photobooth! It will be so much fun, I can't wait!
  • My fiance is a wedding photographer and he showed me this really awesome black and white photo booth that was done in Germany, it was really nice looking. Instead of lots of props and everything, it was just the people making funny faces or posing in funny ways and it was all black and white.

  • I don't see how this is an issue.

Having a black-tie wedding doesn't mean that everyone walks around drinking out of glasses with their pinky in the air, shooting dirty looks at anyone having "fun".

It's a wedding. If you want a photobooth and think your guests will enjoy it, then get one. There's nothing to "tie-in". It will just be there for you and your guests to enjoy. Simple as that.
  • I'm just trying to fit it into my theme...thanks for the helpful suggestions! i like the B & W idea! Perhaps we can add some old hollywood props like a movie clipboard, etc.

  • What is your theme?
  • Unless your theme is "photography sucks" or "photography doesn't exist" then it will fit in.  Don't worry so much about a theme and fitting everything into it.

Since when do weddings have "themes."  Mine didn't, so I wonder if my marriage is valid.

Exaclty. And I can understand a theme, as in an overall concept whether it be colors, or a certain style like "rustic" or having books as centerpieces because you love literature, but yeah, having a photobooth doesn't ruin the wedding or make it less formal and classy if that's what you're going for, OP.

    I think you're overthinking it.
