Projecting initials on wall

Hi Ladies,

Can anyone tell me how we can project our initials on the wall? We already have the projector but I am wondering how we can do it.

Get a slide that has your initials on it and aim for the slide to be shown on the wall.

What you are referring to is called a "gobo" in theatre lingo or a "cookie" in film parlance. They are thin pieces of metal designed to fit in a holder inside of theatrical lights called ellipsoidals. 

Any theatrical supply store will be able to create one for you or you can do it online as well (http://www.goboman.com/?gclid=CM-BmcG08rICFURxQgodgDUAtw). You should be able to rent the appropriate lighting fixture from most rental sites or through a local theatre supply company. Gobos do come in different sizes, so do check with your rental company before getting the gobo made.

The benefit of doing it this way over the slide projector is that it will be exponentially brighter (bright enough to over-come ambient room lighting).

kgbraden is right...but if you already have a projector (in focus machine or similar brand) you can do it with that and a computer.  However, you'll want to be able to suspend from the ceiling as you'll otherwise have guests walking in front of it.

Thanks everyone for you reply. Would you have an average price to make it?

The venue provides me with a projector so hopefully that Gobo thing wont damage it in any way. If I do recall, it is suspended on the ceiling. I am still hesitating though if I want to have it on the floor or wall.

We got ours with our lighting package. We were told the gobo cost about $200 to make though.
