Another SS name change question

OK really I swear I'm sorry but in the thread below the posters used phrases like "going to the office" and variations thereof. REALLY?!? I can just go to 1234 market?? I thought and name change constituted a "corrected" card and that everything had to be mailed into N.Y. No?

    You can go to your local SS office, thats what all of us married ladies here have done! Just make sure you bring your marraige certificate , SS card, and drivers license.
