Cost of Renting Linens?

I know it varies from rental company to rental company and state to state, but can anyone give me a ball park figure for what it costs to rent linens?  I'm not talking about over-the-top custom made stuff, just nice colored overlays.

We'll probably have 16-20 tables that seat 8 people.  TIA!

Re: Cost of Renting Linens?

  • Where I am, there are companies that have specials (like tablecloth, overlay and 8 chair covers with sashes for $30 per table) but the most I've seen for just a tablecloth was $20 with the average being about $12 for a simple in stock colored linen tablecloth.

Before I went with an all inclusive place, I found a linen company and was quoted just under $1000 for 25 tables with 8 seats each (including the overlays, chair covers and sashes) for simple polyester linens.
  • Another option is to buy online. It's often cheaper than renting

Just because you saw it on Four Weddings, doesn't mean it's a good idea.
  • One venue we looked at charged $12 per table for basic linens.

One rental place charged $8.50 to rent a 120" round.  Napkins were $.40 per.

Personally I'd rather buy online (from someplace like Linentablecloth.com) and then sell them to another bride after I'm done.  Even selling for half of what I'd pay for them, I'd still come out ahead.

LTC has 120" rounds for $11.29 and napkins for $.50 ea, so I could hypothetically sell my purchased linens for a fraction of what I paid for them and still come out the same or ahead in the end and not be stuck with whatever linens the venue/company might have available..

  • Thanks guys!  Our venue does include basic linens (black, white or brown) for all their tables.  However, that doesn't go with our color scheme and they are not too the floor so I'm looking into other options or overlays.  I appreciate the help!

  • Also, in my area some companies come out and put them on the tables for you. That is included in their price. So even though you can get them online for cheaper, you are still going to have to steam them, and put them on yourself. Thats why I chose to pay just a bit more to rent rather than buy.
