too childish??

I have been thinking a lot about how I want to layout my escort cards and the table they will be on. My colors are black and purple and I can always go with the traditional black/purple cards with coordinating flowers. However, I feel I want the wedding to be a little personalized for my fiance and I. I am a huge yankee fan and he's a phillies fan. I was thinking of naming the tables after phillies/yankee players and having the escort cards be tickets. I looked up ticket websites and there are quite a few that print out legit tickets, it wouldn't be like some ticket off of microsoft word. I would put the team name, my fiance and my name and the date along with their name and where they will be sitting. My fiance liked the idea but my parents think it is a sweet 16ish/too childish idea. They feel being more traditional with table numbers and plain escort cards would be better. PLEASE HELP!!!! Thank you!!

Be true to yourself. The cards sound like such a wonderful and personal touch...and its these details that the guests remember long after the event is over.

I have seen other people do this and I think it is great idea.  I think since you are going them professionally- it should be enough to convince them.

Weddings where everything is the exact same as the wedding before are boring.

Just avoid overdoing your theme- cuz it can get cheesy very quickly.

Great idea! I think its always fun to throw in things that are true to who you are and who you are as a couple! I think people will love them!

I think that could be fun. But I'd be careful to just do minor touches of that kind of "theme" because it could easily go overboard.

I think it's a wonderful idea! Don't think that because someone says that they are "too childesh" that you shouldn't do it! It's your wedding! So if you and your FH love the isea then go for it!

I think it is a unique idea. I alway think its fun when couples think of diffrent ways to name the tables then table 1. so go for it

I think its cute. Plus it would give table buddies something to talk about if they don't know who the player is, or was unfamiliar with one of your guys' baseball obsessions.

Those escort cards will be doing double duty, good call!

thank you all for your responses!!!! After I told my sister and parents and none of them were really too crazy I was about to give up on it...but, you all have convinced me to go forth with it!!! Yes, I agree so much that there is a thin line between a 15 year old birthday party and a classy wedding...However, I was trying to explain to my parents and sister that it is the personal touch of my fiance and I. Also, I would not be using color coordinately flowers or making a cake w baseball figures, its just strictly the escort cards and table names. Any ideas on how to get the tickets to stand up at the escort card table??? I thought of some ideas but I feel they are too corny...Thank you again for all of your advice!!

Do it!  My FI and I met on a school bus in 8th grade, so our STD's are school buses (see my profile for a picture!)  As long as you don't go overboard, it should be fine.  People like personal touches and will understand that you are being true to yourself and making your wedding unique!

You could do a large piece of cork board in a nice frame and pin the cards to it. Or if you could find some little picture holders that have something to do with baseball, or even just plain ones, those might be cute.
