Ice Cream Bar or Ice Cream truck for wedding reception

Ft. Walton wedding in September. I'm thinking during the reeption-sundae bar or part of the exit ice cream truck. The truck could become part of my photo opp.

Re: Ice Cream Bar or Ice Cream truck for wedding reception

  • I voted for the sundae bar. That way, people can eat their ice cream while they're still seated at a table and not worry about getting it on their clothing, etc. as they are driving home, which I think would be likely with an ice cream truck as people left.

Also, for purely aesthetic reasons, I think a sundae bar would be much cuter than an ice cream truck.

  • I think the ice cream truck is a really cute idea and something that probably no one would have seen before.  As long as the guests don't have to pay for it!

  • I think either one would be amazing - I love ice cream!  The truck idea is really unique... I guess I'd just price it out and make sure that the venue would allow the truck.

I really wanted a sundae bar at our reception, but the budget said  "no" :(  So jealous!

  • I think the truck would be more of a "wow," but as twilight pointed out, the on-site bar would be a little easier on your guests.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • I had an ice cream bar at my e-party and almost every bday party as a kid- it's not a "wow" but Ice cream truck is definitely "wow"- I don't know how it even compares. Go with the truck!
  • Thanks for all of the replies.  I was at my venue last week visiting and an ice cream truck came through. Odd? I was thinking last night, people like cake but love it with ice cream.  The sundae bar from Coldstone is about $3-5 per person which is great for me.  I love the fact that no one will expect the ice cream truck and of course we will hop in the truck and serve them our guests whatever they want. Wished I had stopped tht truck but I will be back there this week looking for him.
  • BTW all of my guests are staying at the hotel.  It is technically a destination wedding for us.  No one lives in Destin, so the group will prob take their ice cream from the truck and head for a late night stroll on the beach.  Sounds nice.
  • If your venue has large widows, where they could see the truck pull up, you could have this for dessert, and not have to wait until your exit.  Your DJ could help out announcing it.  Either way, it's a great idea!
  • i would definitely use the truck... my wedding planner has told me horror stories of ice cream bars... and my venue co-ordinator begged us not to do one b/c it's so much work, and messy!!! ice cream melts! do the truck, totally awesome idea!!!
  • I LOOOVE ICE CREAM! either way is GREAT idea!
