Dancing or no dancing?

We're planning a late september wedding - ceremony ourdoors in a wooded park, reception in a park lodge. bbq to eat… small wedding 50-75 people, small wedding party, etc.

My fiance and I are not sure about music - dj, band, ipod playlist, etc… We're not big dancers. And we don't suspect that our guests will be big dancers either.

What if we don't have dancing? Is it weird not to have dancing? we could still music - probably an ipod playlist for the reception… should we have some sort of other entertainment? Maybe something a little more outdoorsy…

I've never been to a wedding that didn't have dancing, so I'm not sure how this all works.

Suggestions?

thanks for the help.

Re: Dancing or no dancing?

  • My FBIL's wedding was an outdoor at home wedding for around 50 people. They weren't expecting much dancing either, but still wanted to do their first dance. They got a small dance floor (maybe 8x8), and used an ipod with some good speakers for music.  It was lovely.  There was a little dancing, but the day was mostly just good conversation.
  • agree with PP.  My cousin had a small sunday afternoon wedding.  Minimal dancing but still the first dance and family dances.

X the entertainment idea. Adults are fully capable of carrying on conversations and entertaining themselves
dont make ur password so easy. gbck2CA2 hahahaha
  • No dancing is perfectly fine.  But, if you want to do more traditional first dances, father-daughter etc. I think it would be polite to offer your guests the chance to dance too.  So, IMO no dancing means no one dances, not even the bride and groom.
  • What about games like bags/cornhole, washers, horseshoe, etc? We don't really want to have dancing either, but if our outdoor reception was in an outdoor woodsy/park like ocation I would definitely do games.
