Wedding Reception Forum

What rental items are a must have?

Our reception/ceremony spaces are literally a blank slates – no tables, chairs, etc.  We are renting tables (for eating, prep, gift table, cake, etc), chairs, linens, plates, and silverware.  Food related items are covered by the caterer.  Any items that after the fact you wish you would have rented?

  • I personally think chair covers are a bit of a waste.  I found table linens in my town you can rent for about $12.50 a piece - And I found some on E-bay for under $10 here:  http://stores.ebay.com/weddingsupplyfactory I'm not sure what I'm going to do with all these table linens after the wedding... but, it was still cheaper and I can give them to someone else when I'm finished.
  • If you are getting married outside (like we are), you might want to consider a wedding arch to create a focal point and look at either renting or buying an aisle carpet.  You will need to rent a sound system with PA's, or check to see if your DJ will provide this for you.

We rented Chiavary chairs for a great price which eliminated the need for chair covers.  You will also need to rent all of your linens, don't forget about the napkins!  You should also look into renting a podium for the speeches at the reception along with all of your tables for your guests, gift table, cake table and guest registry.

Any other rentals would be based on what kind of look and feel you are going for.  If you want to rent candelabras, hanging lanterns to place on the trees by the river, etc.

Good luck!  Once you have your rentals figured out, you will feel a large sense of relief!
