What Do I Need To Rent?

So I've got the "Big Checklist" sorted - The "9-12months to go, do this, that, and the other", but the thing I'm struggling to find help with is a list of what I might need to Rent/Consider for the Decoration of the Venue....
Obviously Flowers, but what about Chair Covers, Table Linen, Vases for Centre Peices etc.....
That's where I'm at so far, and I know there's probably a load more things like the above that I need to consider....but I just can't think of them!!!
Help! x

Re: What Do I Need To Rent?

  • does your venue include linens? that would save so much hassle. also, a lot of venues offer a 'generic' centerpiece...you would have to decide if you are okay with that.

IMO, chair covers are unnecessary....unless they really are THAT bad. i dont even remember what the hairs at my wedding lookked like.

some people rent their dress. that can get tricky, and a lot of reliability can fall on you if something happends. you are better off buying your own, even if it was pre-owned and worn by someone else.

a lot of people also rent their jewelry as well, but IMO you are better off buying your own. so many places like etsy are great, and even here on the Wedding Classifieds sell stuff all the time.

when we used our florist, they provided the vases for the centerpieces (and we got to keep them after, and i just sold them to another Knottie)

the more your venue provides, the less YOU have to do and worry about :)
  • Hiya, thanks for the help.
Not sure if Rowton provide Linen's, I'm think they will, but what if I want different colours....that's why I was considering Renting.
Definately not Ok with generic centre peices, will be sorting those out with the florist.
I've seen pics of the chairs at my Venue with and without covers, still not sure what I prefer.
Dress is sorted, ordered it last week (EXCITING!), jewellery, I would like to buy myself.
Haven't settled on the Florist yet but the one I think I'm going with will probably be Ok with taking me to the warehouse to chose the vases etc.

most venues (i think) offer white or ivory. we did ivory (because my dress was...it didnt make a difference to me though) and with our colorful centerpieces and everything it was fine.

yay on the dress! :) congrats!

hopefully with your florist you can keep your vases also so you can resell them. i wanted my florist to provide them because i wanted to make sure they were the correct size

Check with your florist and your venue.

Our florist provided our vases. I picked them out from options that would work with the centerpieces I picked out, and she just took them away after. I didn't want the hassle of buying or selling my own. The rental for the vases was included in my flowers quote.

I just used the linens provided by the venue. They were ivory. Since I was going for very elegant and understated, that worked well for me. The venue also provided gold chargers and all the china, flatware, and glassware, so it all went together. I picked my flowers and such around the ivory linens and gold chargers. In the end, they actually left off the chargers. No one noticed or cared, not even me until halfway through the dinner.

We had to rent some chairs, because I wanted gold chivari chairs and my venue didn't have enough. They arranged the rental for me though.

Basically, you need to check with your venue and with your florist. No one can tell you what you need to rent, since it's going to vary by venue and vendors so much. (for example, some people might have to rent sound equipment, glassware, flatware, china, linens, just to name a few).

<font color="#30afa8"><strong>Thanks - that's certainly something to work on!  I keep feeling the urge to go back to the venue (which will be the third time) to have a look around, get a better picture of things and how I might want things to be, but, with 16months still to go, I think I may be being abit premature!

  • I took pictures of my venue when I was there, that really helped me decide what I needed to rent to fill the spaces. We are having to rent all of our dishes. Like others have said, it really depends on your venue and what they provide as to what you will need to rent.
