Dance Floor Ideas

My reception is super casual - burgers in the backyard under a big tent. Rustic/laid back.  We plan on having yard games and a DJ.  I am not much of a dancer, but I know quite a few of our friends are - so I began looking into a dance floor.   I was SHOCKED to find some of the prices to rent a dance floor though!  I figured I would check my other options before I just rented one.

Is it possible to make one?  Or how difficult is it to dance in the grass if we left a designated area?  A friend suggested saw dust for flooring, but that sounds like a big mess!  Suggestions or ideas?

Re: Dance Floor Ideas

  • Rent the dance floor.  It's just part of the expense of throwing a party like this.  Sawdust will make a huge mess and get in everyone's shoes.  Grass is difficult to dance on, and making a dance floor just isn't practical.  If you want people to dance, provide a proper dance floor.
  • You can also check out craigslist, I've seen a few dance floors for sell on there in the past.

I would say no to the saw dust idea.  And dancing on grass isn't likely to happen.  People may shake their bootie where they are standing, but they aren't likely to actually go to the designated grassy area to dance.

I would say rent the dance floor.  Try checking with places where you are renting chairs and tables. They may cut you a deal if you rent all from the same place.</div>
  • rent the dance floor if you want dancing.
