Round, Rectangle, or Both

Help me choose between round tables, rectangles tables, or both for my reception. Do anyone have any pictures of a reception where both round and rectangle tables were used?

Re: Round, Rectangle, or Both

  • We had booths along the side then rounds in the middle.  I don't think it makes a big difference just depends on what you trying to go for.  I haven't been to a wedding with long rectangles, although it looks super cute/modern/unique.  Does your venue give you that option?  Ours didn't.

  • Our venue only had round tables (various sizes, depending if 6 or 10 people at the table).  I like the look of a mix of tables if you have the option of tables and access to matching linens in different shapes/sizes.  You can use the different tables to play with different centerpieces, which I think is really cool.
  • I would do a mix or have rectangle tables if they were the same cost. I feel it's easier to carry on a conversation at a rectangular table, though I know opinions on this vary. Also, if you have tables of different sizes, it makes it easier to seat groups of different sizes, or for groups to seat themselves.

But these considerations weren't enough for me to rent tables beyond the round ones free with my reception venue.
  • We are having a majority of round tables but a few rectangles thrown in so that we can fit the max amount of people. I think a mix looks kind of cool.

  • I'm using both. It will allow for more people to fit in our venue, so that's a main reason we're using differently shaped tables. Also, it allows for more variety in centerpieces, which I like.
  • Our reception is small (only about 80) so I opted for the round tables.  The rectangle made it feel like a school lunch room. The round looked more upscale and are more conversation friendly. This way people can chat with everyone at the table instead of having to talk "down the table" or only speaking to people immediately by you.

  • I want to thank everyone for the advice.
