Re: wishing jar/guest book sayings

  • We didn't come up with anything cute. Just simple instructions on what to do. Honestly, the obsession with "cute sayings" for everything is getting to be too much.
    What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • thanks, well I just didnt want to feel like Im dictating them on what to do.. I dont want to "demand" anything.... I like the thought of doing something cute, and my guests saying things like "thats a cute/neat little saying, how creative and unique" I want to be unique not boring.

  • Providing instructions isn't demanding. It's saying, "Hi! You may not have seen this before, so this is what it is and what you're supposed to do with it!" My guests signed river rocks. The act of doing that generated a lot of compliments and comments that it was different.The lack of cute saying did not make my guest book boring.

    <div>It certainly seems you were calling mine boring since I said I just had instructions and your response was that you want something that isn't boring. </div><div>
    </div><div>This is a public forum, so you don't get to tell people how to post. I did help. I suggested it isn't necessary to come up with a cute saying for every little thing. It wasn't the help you wanted, but that doesn't mean it wasn't helping. </div>

  • It does sound like you are implying that guests without cutesy sayings are boring. Just post a sign with the basics. You are over thinking this.

    Also....I can't understand....why you type....like this....There's no grammatical benefit...to this "....."
  • Im not typing an essay. This isnt English class. And I dont need people  to tell me my ideas are stupid. Thanks. I hope I typed this better for you. :) Have a nice day ladies, thanks for all your help. :)

  • Haha, I think cute sayings are fun. I did a google search looking for cute sayings and I came to this page. No reason for your post to turn into something not so fun, we get enough of that trying to plan the stinking wedding! lololol! Here are a few cute things I have found, hope they help you and I hope your wedding is everything you want it to be and more!

    We thought this book would make a great souvenir
    So if you have a wedding message, please write it in here
    Some words of wisdom, encouragement, or joke
    A poem, a drawing, an anecdote
    We'll look through it fondly in years to come
    So thanks for making this book a special one!

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    This day for us is special
    A time beyond compare
    The joy we feel in our hearts
    We're glad our guests can share.
    Now share with us your marriage tips
    For a long and happy life
    Present us with your words of wisdom
    To help us as man and wife
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Those are two that I like anyway!
  • Our guestbook was a handmade scrapbook with blank pages to sign, and little cards to write on and stick in pockets throughout the book.  We wanted to encourage more than just the "congrats! love aunt suzie" We didn't do a cute saying, but we did have a small frame that simply said something along the lines of:

    "Can't think of what to write?"
    - tell us your favorite part of today's celebrations
    - give us your favorite recipe
    - share some marriage wisdom
    - write us a poem
    - draw us a picture
    etc.
    it worked out really well, and I think our guests had fun with it!

  • I think rhyming poems with 'cutesy' sayings are awful. I would go with gymbug's suggestion. Way better.

    Out of everyth.....ing happening on your.... wedding day, cutesy,,,, signs are the most im...,.portant and should re,,,,quire all of your stress and,,,,, attention.

    ETA: Sorry that was snarky. I just finished voicing my distaste for cutesy signs on another thread. And everyone gets bothered by the ......... because a lot of people do it and I have absolutely no idea why. You're not writing an essay but you're taking the time to add bundles of periods randomly.
