Poem for birdcage

We’re using a birdcage at our wedding in place of a traditional guest book. I'm hoping people will write some advice or comments on these little cards we have, sign their name and then drop it into the birdcage. Then after the wedding we’re going to take them all and put them in a little book.

So here's my issue... I’m trying to write a poem to set next to it so people know what to do, but poems are not my strong suit! Here’s what I have so far (mostly stolen from something I saw online!!) but it doesn’t flow the greatest.

Our wedding bird cage sits here looking very bare,
Waiting to be filled with the thoughts you want to share.

So please pick up a pen and write advice, a joke or a thought,
And drop it in our cage where your comment will be caught.

When the day is over we can’t wait to have a look,
And we’ll treasure all your notes forever in our memory book.

In the years that follow we’ll remember on this day,
All your kind words and thoughts and in our hearts you’ll stay.

I'm also thinking I shuold probably mention that we'd like people to sign their names...?? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Re: Poem for birdcage

  • I had one of these.  I had little bird figurines in the cage.  My sign just said something like "Please leave your wishes or advice for the lovebirds," or something like that.
  • When you did it, did people leave their names on the notes? I guess that's really the main thing I care about... I'd like to be able to look back in a few years and see who wrote what. Otherwise I'm sure I would never remember!

[QUOTE]Skip the cutesy poem and just make a sign saying "Please write your advice or thoughts for the bride and groom and place it in the birdcage."

Stage,  Not trying to get too personal but are you okay?  I've noticed that a lot of your posts have been pretty snotty recently.  Not your usual posting style that I recall
