Centerpiece/Flower ideas

Hello all,

I am in the early stages of planning and just starting to get ideas together. My ceremony will be in July, 2013 and I am favoring coral as my color. I am trying to get some ideas for flowers. I am thinking maybe purples/pinks, oranges, coral (obviously), and any sort of color that would compliment color (I am also open to any other color suggestions). I do not want to spend a ton of money of flowers. Any ideas for some nice, not-too-expensive types of flowers?

Also, my reception location provides a generic centerpiece. It is a mirror with a hurrican vase on top. There is a long white candle inside the hurricane and votive candles around the base of the hurricane. I may just place some flower petals around the mirror as well but any DIY ideas I could incorporate? I am open to using fake flowers/accessories. It will be nice to have some time to make the DIY stuff though!

Thanks in advance for any advice/thoughts!

  • I would just stick to the petals and keep it simple. And it will save you money too.

  • If you want fresh flowers you can still use the hurricane vase and candle. You'd just buy inexpensive plastic low bowls, use some green floral oasis foam and insert fresh flowers into it to surround the hurricane.

With coral you can use fuschia/pink, yellow, white, green. Inexpensive flowers are roses, carnations, oriental lillies, baby's breath, daisies.
  • It is good that the place has centerpieces, my venue also did but they weren't very attractive, lol. If you want to use flowers, go with coral colored roses to on each plate (if your wedding is not that large) is it will allow to only spend money on one type of flower and not buying centerpieces. You could also just do the flower petals - same idea. I am not using any flowers at all for centerpieces, so don't feel like you need too just for the sake of it, there are plenty of other ways to incorporate that color - linens, room decorations.
