Chairs?!

Just looking for opinions on my chair thoughts! The hall chairs are very unattractive so I would have to either cover them or rent other chairs. I am leaning toward the idea of renting other chairs. I love the look of chiavari chairs but I cant seem to find a vendor in our area for these. would it be bad to use the white folding wooden garden chairs inside?! we will be renting some for our garden ceremony and would just get the same ones for inside, it is actually cheaper than covering the chairs! I've just never seen these used inside so Im not sure how it will look?! If I knew how to pip i would sorry, thanks

Re: Chairs?!

  • They would be perfectly fine to use inside.  The chiavari chairs can be extremely expensive to rent ($8-$10 per chair and it could be more depending on the area you live in).  I would have loved those chairs but when I need about 260 it just wasn't going to happen.  Truthfully, I can not tell you what any of the chairs looked like at any of the weddings I attended.  How hideous are the chairs that are already there?  If they are a basic color I would just use them and not even cover them because only you will notice that they are "unattractive".  That way you save a little money that you can put towards other things.

  • Nobody will remember the chairs.  I say spend the money elsewhere.

  • I think white garden chairs could look awesome inside, with the right centerpeices (something rustic or more natural as opposed to very ornate centerpeices).

  • Yes, I agree with PP, it really depends on the theme @ your wedding.  White folded chairs might work...

  • zeke-  Check out http://www.chiavarichairrental.com.

They are out of Ann Arbor and the chivari chairs are $4.95 each.  I don't know your budget, but that is where we are getting ours for DD's wedding.  Miriam is a delight to work with.
  • I wouldn't spend any money doing anything with the chairs. Spend the money on something your guests will actually notice and enjoy, like food or booze or music.

  • The wedding magazines, websites, and tv shows would have you believe that things like the chairs are critical to the success of your wedding.  And they're just not.  Can you tell me about the chairs at the last 6 weddings you attended?  Probably not.  Because it's just not that important a detail to guests.

I don't remember the chairs from my own wedding, nor our son and DIL's wedding, nor our DD and SIL's wedding.  I do remember the food, the music, the people that I sat with and laughed with.

Also please keep in mind that once the reception starts, those chairs will be covered with suit jackets, wraps, sweaters, purses, etc.  I'd put the $$ you'll be spending on seating into something that your guests actually care about.

IMO, if people leave your wedding complaining that the chairs were ugly, then you had much bigger problems with your reception.

    Good luck.
