I'll tell you, nothing gets by you, does it?

  • I think Rice Krispies are a good idea as an alternative to all the other ideas. You're right, they will just dissolve in the next rainfall or get crushed and blown away afterward. I'm sure the birds would like them too!

Ignore the people who criticize about getting stuff tossed as the newly wed couple. It's a tradition and you're perfectly entitled to it! I'm a bit bummed about not getting anything tossed, but I'll get over it. I considered going with bubbles, but I'm not even sure we'll do that. might just have those little bells for people to ring.

Rice krispies are a good idea. They brush off easily, so don't worry about them getting so stuck in your hair and dress and things (it'd be worth it anyway, from how badly you want it to happen!). And no, getting rice krispies "pelted" at you in the face won't hurt either. Since when are rice krispies dangerous? It's not like they're messy--they're dry, afterall--and they are super cheap too when you buy generic brand (like Great Value Brand from walmart).

    I say go for it.
  • I love the wands idea!

As for the bubbles idea - does anyone know if the bubbles get on your dress and stain?

  • I had the same question about bubbles when DD was married. So we went to our amazing dry cleaner. (The best dry cleaner ever in the world!)

She smiled when we asked if bubbles would stain wedding dresses, and said that they had just bought the bubbles for their DDs wedding. I figured if the person who specializes in stain removal wasn't worried, then that was good enough for us.

Both our DD and our DIL used bubbles. Not a stain to be seen on either dress.

[QUOTE]PS the first time I read the OP, I thought it said Rice Krispie treats, and was like What The F?? I was literally picturing people throwing pieces of Rice Krispie treats at a bride and groom. Talk about getting food stuck in your hair; that would be disgusting (and probably painful).

Haha, I read the OP as Rice Krispie Treats too... glad I wasn't the only one. :o)

I've always wanted bubbles -- even back before it became so popular. The wand idea is cute too.

  • There's also biodegradable confetti... Totally eco-friendly, it washes away with water. You might present that idea to your venue...My church didn't allow confetti, but I presented this idea and they were fine with it. It can be a little pricey (but hey, I'm also very cheap!), but it may be worth it if you really want that image...

I really would love that photo shot, but I don't think it's in my budget...Bubbles are way cheaper. lol.

[QUOTE]What kind of people do you have at your wedding that pelt you in the face with that stuff? When rice or birdseed is thrown, it's supposed to be tossed upwards, isn't it? It's not supposed to be chucked at your face. If you're that concerned about getting a nose full of rice or birdseed, just skip it then. If the bride wants it, she can have it.

Just because it's supposed to be tossed upwards doesn't mean that's what people will do. I'm sure there's more situations where people don't realize how hard they threw it than people intentionally tossing it roughly.
