advise table overlays vs table runners

The colors I am using for my wedding are teal, chocolate brown and white and I'm having round tables (of 8 guests each) at the reception.  I will have white table cloths and white chair covers. For the chairs I was thinking of having brown sashes, but my dilema is weather I should use a teal overlay or a teal runner for the tables. My center pieces will have white flowers...please advise

I personally think overlays look better on round tables, while runners look better on long/rectangular tables.

I agree that runners can look awkward on round tables (it's not symmetrical, which drives me nuts) but I hate solid (as in, not sheer) overlays more. I think they are pointless. I mean, if you're going to do that, why not just use tablecloths in that color? So if the overlay is sheer, I say go with that. If not, I vote runner instead.

</div><div>I agree with this, unless you are doing table squares that don't take up the whole table. We made table squares out of fun fabric I got at Joann's on sale, and it ended up being around $100 total, which was a lot cheaper than most of the overlay's I found online.

The lady who is doing our decorating and such suggested staying away from runners on round tables because it is hard to get them all lined up just so ... Maybe she is kind of a perfectionist but I get it. I'd choose overlays.
