dollar coin favors

What are your thoughts???   We are having a Lake Tahoe wedding.  I was thinking of doing a few dollar coins in a little bag for the favors.  Since we are traveling and the guest are traveling too, I dont want to have edible favors.

I would be weirded out by getting money as a favor. Edible favors are perfect for people who are traveling -- they can enjoy it before they go home, and not have to pack it. Or they can throw it in their purse/bag to eat while they travel. Mot edible favors are non-perishable (chocolate, candy, cookies, cupcakes, etc), I would skip favors before giving people money.

  • I'd also be weirded out.

I chose to give edible favors because I have a lot of people traveling the next day.  They can bring them on the road or on the plane.

"Hey thanks for coming, have a dollar for gas money!"

    just skip it

the only kind of edible favors you'd have to worry about are breakable or liquids over 3.4ozs.
give small cookies, chocolate, candies etc...
what would I do with a bag of dollar coins?

  • I assume your wedding is on the Nevada side of Tahoe and you want to give out coins so your guests can gamble.  Instead of dollar coins, you can give dollar chips, and have a cute saying that involves luck and love, gambling etc.  I don't care for the coin idea -- "Thanks for coming, here's a few dollars" -- but I think that chips wouldn't be received the same way.
  • Were getting married in Las Vegas and I thought it would be a cute idea to do a roll of pennies in the favors with a little note attached, something regarding the penny slots. Think this is tacky?

  • I think if you are getting married in a casino and  a note is attached, it's kinda cute. I do know someone who did that when she got married in a similar type venue, as well

I think you need to up the ante  to nickels at least.  A  roll of nickels is only $2.
  • I went to a wedding in Vegas years ago and as favors they gave everyone a bunch of quarters. I don't recall if it was a full roll or just a good handful. They got married in one of the casinos so a bunch of the guests used them on their way out. The couple was young and so were many of their guest, including myself, and couldn't use the quarters as intended because we were under 21. But I thought it was a great idea.
