Berries for centerpieces??

So, this idea just literally popped in my head! Our colours are eggplant and berry red, and ive been thinking about the centerpieces! We are on a budget and im not huge on flowers so had been trying to think of other options!

Would filling vases/bowls with strawberries and raspberries work?? Would they go all mushy?? Can you imagine a bowl with berries surrounded by candles working??

Re: Berries for centerpieces??

  • I was just about to say, you can buy two dozen roses for the cost of a pint of raspberries....I'm sure berries would be pretty, but definitely not cheap. Duds had some great suggestions.
  • Cranberries!  Raspberries and Strawberries both go mushy quickly in the heat and if you have an outdoor wedding or people are opening the door a lot, they can bring fruitflies in an astoundingly short time.

Strawberries and grapes will hold up better than raspberries, not as well as cranberries.

Maybe you could look into fake strawberries and raspberries..? If you're just filling vases with them then people may be less inclined to touch them and it might be cheaper. I'm sure you could find real looking fake berries if you dig around enough.
