Wedding Colors

I'm getting married around Christmas-time this year, and the reception venue will have a lot of garland and trees up with gold and champagne colored ornaments. I thought I would have white flowers on the table and the bridesmaids would wear champagne. Groomsmen will be in black and white tuxes.

My mom is telling me that I need an accent color. What do you all think? I don't understand where an accent color would go, or what color I would choose. I am not good with these things and need advice! I do not want anything overtly Christmasy, like red or burgundy.

Actually, I kind of like classic colors like you are thinking for weddings. I think white, champagne, and black would be lovely and play well off of "Christmas" colors instead of adding Christmas colors into your wedding color scheme.

If you already have decor that is using green... that could be considered an accent.

If you do what flowers on the table, what flowers will you have?  I have seen pointsetas in white that might look really nice with your colours.  I think once you figure out your flowers and bouqets that will be your accent colour.  I think you Mom is looking for you to pick a more bold colour.. that's all.  I love the classic colours you are working with.  Makes it very classy instead of tacky!!

My wedding was this color palette--black/champagne/ivory and I used all white flowers.  No accent color at all and it was beautiful.  IMO of course. 

I did consider adding blush pink to the color scheme and doing a "pink champagne" theme.  In the end I didn't but it can be a beautiful addition.

I always like accents of gold with white/champagne/ivory flowers.  It adds a richness to the decor and would go great with christmas decorations.  But definitely stay away from reds and greens because then you might as well have a christmas theme wedding!
