  • ugh I soooo would take my fat butt with you!!!!  I LOVED kick boxing!  I took it at my community college (part of the transfer program, had to take a gym class in order to transfer credits to bigger university)...Passed out the first day, but after that I kicked butt! I freaking loved that class and it got me motivated to work out 3 times a week while I was on campus!  Loved it!!

I need to look into that down here!
  • yeah the one I take is a lot of fun too.  I stopped b/c it is very expensive but I think I deserve to treat myself so I feel awesome on our wedding day :)

Do you think it'd be difficult for a deaf person to take the class? Are there a lot of verbal instructions or do you just simply follow the instructor's moves??

No I don't think it would be difficult at my place the instructor gets up in front of the class shows you what move to do then you do it.  Then when the time is up you will just be able to watch and see what everyone else is doing then you can switch it up.

  • AWESOME.  Kickboxing is so insane.  I did regular boxing for a little while and reallllly enjoyed it.

I need to start up the P90X again... they have a great kickboxing workout.

What's the difference in Thai kickboxing as opposed to standard kickboxing?

Well at the place I got to the regular cardio kickboxing class you don't use any bags you just punch and kick the air.

Thai kickboxing you have to wear a uniform and you actually graduate to the different color belts.  This class teaches you self defense and you also kick and punch the bags.

  • have you guys ever tried zumba?? its SO much fun - kind of similar to kick boxing in that there are some kicking-related moves but more like dancing :)

mekiakoo if you haven't tried it i bet you would love it!!! the instructors are trained to give NO verbal cues - the best instructors simply dance along with their class, and the students are to follow along with what the instructors are doing :)
  • hahaha! zumba is very much like follow the leader - you can have zero skills going in and still have fun and get a great workout!! some of the worst dancers i have ever seen have come into classes i have taken and they do just fine moving along with the instructor!
  • Zumba is awesome!! I've only done it on the Wii and it's been really fun.  Mekiakoo you should try that out if you want before going to a class maybe get your confidence up that you aren't wandering in knowing nothing.

I got my black belt years ago in karate and that is the one thing I can't wait to get back to after the wedding.  It's kind of expensive and I know I won't have the time to devote to it at this point.
