Favors...

What favors are you giving?
I am out of ideas, I want something edible, but not sure what to go with, and my brain is running on empty. We are getting married February 12, 2010. Thank you!

Re: Favors...

  • candies in a little box that we're making out of cardstock.

Right now I'm thinking a few hershey kisses, butterscotch, and a peppermint.  Something for everyone.

I'm also doing CDs - 1 per invite/family instead of 1 per person.  We're huge music people, so I think it'll be good.
  • We didn't do any favors.  We had so much food, plus an open bar, and cheesecakes.  Any additional favors just seemed like a waste.  They aren't required and I find at every wedding that has favors, I either don't want the favor or I accidentally forget it on the table, even edible ones.

I suggest a candy buffet, dessert bar, late night snack, etc. rather than favors (unless you can come up with something really unique that's specific to you and your FI). I did both and if I had it to over again, I would have done the candy buffet only. Everyone loved it.

Or just skip it altogether--it's not necessary and no one will notice.
  • We aren't getting married until June of next year, but we already know that we're giving flower seeds. Obviously they're not edible, but it's something useful and fits in perfectly with the type of wedding we're having.
  • We're not doing favors, aside from to-go boxes.  We're having a massive spread of food and desserts, so people can take some home at the end of the night if they choose.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • You can always do really nice frosted cookies and have them serve as escort cards at the same time. There are also personalize M&m's and Hershey Kisses.
  • If you can't think of anything, then it is ok to skip them. No one will miss them if they aren't there and you end up saving your money so it's a win-win deal.

We're getting married in February 2011, and we'll be doing either frosted snowflake sugar cookies like these, individually wrapped in cello and ribbon:

    Or these, minus the gumdrops:

Favours are expected where we're from, but we aren't willing to spend much on them.. These are inexpensive and I'm a big DIYer, so I'm actually really looking forward to making them.

  • We'll be making our own English crackers (http://www.christmas-crackers-usa.com) and filling them with a crown, joke, and some sort of chocolate candy.  The Christmas crackers are a tradition in FI's family, and we both love it, so we figured why not just change the paper and do it for the wedding?

  • no one will miss the favors.  I think I'm having a cookie bar instead.
  • My fiance's cousin did small bottles of champagne with the table number and names on them.. they doubled as a escort as well.
