Favor Ideas

The FI and I are having a hard time deciding on what to give our guests as a favor.  I would love to do a candy bar but have been reminded on several occasions that 'not everyone likes candy'.  Our wedding is going to be beach/water themed and our colors are a water blue and sand.  We would love for it to be something the guests can either use or eat instead of having your typical wedding favors left lying around the house (we all know what they are).  I would appreciate any ideas!

Re: Favor Ideas

  • What about salt water taffy?
Proud to be an old married hag!! image
  • how about travel sized sunscreen tubes?
  • I bought cute little palm tree boxes that I will fill with homemande seashell shapes chocolates.
  • Candy/cookies/popcorn bar
  • A candy bar is still a great idea, as long as you have a good variety.  Almost anything edible tends to go over well.

  • I think salt water taffy is a great idea!! Goes with your beach theme as well.
  • You'll never be able to choose something that everyone will like. Anything edible is typically a crowd pleaser and I really liked the taffy suggestion.

  • Not everyone likes candy?

I can not think of a single thing that is closer to being liked by everyone. :D
  • Yummmm salt water taffy!!!!

We did pens as our favors, not sure if that will work out on the beach but I also like the sunscreen idea.  Depending on finances maybe do a "beach survival kit" with sunscreen, lip balm, water, fan...something like that?

  • Oooh yeah, fans are nice for the beach theme!
  • Hmmm, I love any kind of wedding favor but if you are thinking beach theme, I like the fan idea. Something they can use and they wion;t get thrown away (at least not right away anyway).

I would still do a candy bar if I were you.

salt water taffy is a great idea... If you end up doing chocolate, I wouldn't worry about not everyone liking it. The point is, you don't want it to be something that will go to waste or be thrown out. If I didn't want a candybar I took home from a wedding, I would give it to my niece or nephew. It wouldn't be waster at least. And I would probably keep the wrapper as a momento. If it was someone I was close to.

You can order personalized lip balm in bulk. Might be bordering on lame or something people wouldn't use, but I go through lip balm like it's going out of style, and I would totally use it as long as your names and date were not printed in size 32 font.

  • Maybe bottles of wine from a local winery?  With a custom beach label?  You could always make a neat little display for the wine bottles with sand and seashells, etc.

For my beach wedding I have a theme of white beach chairs. My invitations fold out into a white beach chair, my cake topper will be 2 white beach chairs.  So I chose for my favor these really cute mini white beach chairs placecard holder/picture frames.  I figure people would actually keep it since it doesn't have our names plastered all over it(cause really, do you actually keep some of the cheesy personalized stuff people use as favors?).  In the frame area I'll get cards printed up that fit frame that tell my guests thanks for sharing our special day with us and they can take the cards out and put a picture in(most of my guests are using my wedding as an excuse for a vacation so I'm assuming they will take pics while on their trip).

    This is the actual favor....

  • You could do Macarons that matches with your wedding colors and beach theme!!!!!
I know you said that not everyone likes candies, but it's like.... Impossible to do something that everyone will enjoy!
And it's not something that will go to the garbage within some days/months!
I don't know why, but i always have had this idea, that not edible flavors goes to the garbage some day, and in the end, I ended up spending money on something that was thrown away. But that's me!
I've tried to do something not edible at my wedding too, but i couldn't think in something that people would keep.

  • I am also doing a beach wedding and was browsing thru the pics on here for ideas. One I really liked for favors was a seahell bar instead of a candy bar. Personally, we're also doing a candy bar since my fiancee has a sweet tooth!
  • we did sand dollar sugar cookies:

we bought them in bulk, which was around $70 for over 300 cookies, and wrapped them individually ourselves such as the following:

it was very cheap and everyone loved the cookies!! No one left them behind.

    Good luck! :)

My fiancé and I don't. I'm sure diabetics not looking to go into a coma would not like it either. Sorry to be "that girl" but I hate it when people are all like "everyone likes this" without realizing that's never true.

OP - remember that you don't have t have favors. Even sweet wooden fans might be the perfect touch - especially if you are hoping for a or day!

i still like the candy idea. but i LOVE those sugar cookies!!!
  • I would do Gormet chocolates in seashell shapes.....  or a sand dollar/starfish holiday ornament.....
  • For my wedding I did hershey kisses in a silver favor bag put inside a little silver pail with one of those cocktail umbrellas in it and seashells inside the buckets.......
  • Depending on if you are a DIY-er or not, we were origianlly going to do sandollars with guests names on them (in calligraphy) that would serve as the place card and keepsake. After the wedding they could turn it into a magnet. I ended up making round ornaments out of clay with a pineapple and their name stamped into it.

  • This is a really cute idea! I was having trouble thinking of favors as well. Definitely going to check into this! Thanks!
  • Perhaps you could give out beach bags with your names written in sand. You can find samples of this at www.sampiercephotography.com

  • Candy bar is cute.
Like someone already said, pretty much anything edible will be fine.

I am having a beach themed wedding and we are doing sea/beach themed shaped cookies and cupcakes in a jar. Yummm. I'm also making program fans and the escort cards will be sand dollars.
