Would this be weird??!?!!

I am planning to have my wedding 5/10/2014.

My colors will be red & gold. (my favorites).

I am doing all of the decor by myself because I don't want to spend a ton of money.
Would it be weird to use the red & gold christmas ball ornaments in my centerpieces?

What do you think?

I think it depends on what else you use with the ornaments.

If you had large vases and used small balls to fill, and like red roses on top I think it could be nice. I'm sure there are several ways you could do it without looking too christmas-y.

Not weird at all! In fact, I like it. I saw a picture on pinterest the other day where they used square vases and put gold Christmas balls at the bottom for a filler and they had purple flowers in it. It was beautiful!! I got my vases on clearance from Michael's Christmas clearnace section. My colors are navy blue, hot pink, and white. The vases are white with crystals on them. I think it will look great! As long as you put something else with it, I think it would look fine!  For instance -- just a container (vase, basket, bowl) of Christmas ornaments will look more Christmassy, but as PP said, a glass vase with various sizes of gold balls in it topped with red roses would be gorgeous!  Ditto for a vase of red ornaments or a mix of red and gold topped with white flowers.

I'm a big proponent that a wedding should be whatever you want it to be and so I think there is definitely a way to make the ornament centerpieces work without it feeling Christmas-y.  I would avoid bows and yes look around on Pinterest for something creative.  I like the idea of incorporating flowers at the top of the vases.  

Just remember it's your day and you get to make it whatever you want!
