ideas for what to put under centerpieces?

I am having round tables, most likely ivory linens and a gropuping of three milk vases with flowers. Two of the vases are white milk glass and the third is pale green. The flowers will be hot pink. My question is what should I put under the vases? I think the vases on top of the white linens looks really boring. My mom was thinking about making some kind of table runner with a graphic hot pink and white fabric but I ma not sure. What do you guys think?

Table runner is good, also put the mirror squares under the centerpieces.

A girl on my local board did almost the same thing and she didn't put anything under it and it looked fine.  It made the flowers really pop.  Her linens were white and she did lime green napkins.  It was really pretty.

I would go with a runner or fabric square.  I think mirrors are best if you have candles.  Yours don't sound like mirrors would quite "go".

I would just look for fabric napkins that would fit with the look you're going for. You could get them on sale at a department store and they'd probably be cheaper than buying or making table runners.

i am making fabric squares from a large king flat sheet, i want black so it is pretty easy to find the color, and i am buying the sheets at a discount store...they dont have to egyptian cotton 300 thread count, just the right color
